With their season coming to a close, the Lady Panthers Varsity Softball team finishes the year 20 wins to 10 losses. The softball team stood out boldly with smart plays and talented players, who are all determined and spirited.

Coach Justin Bishop is the newest addition to the team and it’s his first year as the head coach for the softball team. He has worked in coaching for over sixteen years, and has spent the past seven at Parkview. Senior outfielder Alex Massaro says, “It’s been great working with him. He’s good to us and good for the team.”

Dedication of the entire team helped cement the Lady Panthers as one of the best high school softball teams in the region. Massaro notes, “One of the most notable games was the Brookwood game.”

Parkview was down 2-0, but eventually the team managed to pull a lead at the bottom of the seventh. “The Brookwood pitcher struggled, which probably helped us, too,” Massaro remarked humorously.

Softball isn’t just about the competitive aspect; it’s a teambuilding experience. “Being on the softball team has really boosted my team spirit, teamwork, and just getting along with others. Everyone’s really friendly,” Massaro states. Senior Lexi Walker, third baseman and shortstop, also notes that, “It’s like working with a bunch of sisters. I’ve really improved my problem solving skills. Softball has really helped me build relationships and get along with others.”

The efforts and achievements of the softball team are commendable. Reflecting on the performance and attitude of the team, Coach Bishop says, “I love working with the girls. They work hard and play well. I look forward to coaching them next year.”
